The oldest records about divination by playing cards shows that it was widespread in Europe at 14th century onwards. However, the true origin of this type of fortune telling is related with Levantine countries. It came into Europe through crusades and flourished and spread there. Very little information is known about the previous form of the cards related fortune-telling before its spread in Europe. There are 52 cards in the card deck. These are separated into 4 groups. Groups are named as Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs. In every group there are number cards from two to ten and special picture cards named as Jack, Queen, King and Ace.
